PROBLEM: WRINKLES
Unfortunately aging and wrinkles are unavoidable, however they can be minimized through treatment and prevention. Wrinkles often present as crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines in the forehead, lip wrinkles and other permanent lines on the face and neck.
Why does this occur?
Because as we age our skin degenerates, becoming thinner, less hydrated and less elastic. Collagen and hyaluronic acid depletes causing volume loss. This slow in the production of these essential elements is what adds the emphasizes of wrinkles.
What Causes Wrinkles?
Although aging is the primary cause for wrinkles, they can also appear for other reasons such as sun exposure and environmental factors. The biggest environmental factor that causes wrinkles is exposure to UV (Ultraviolet light) that is emitted by the sun. This light is damaging to the skin on many levels such as overstimulation causing the surface to look worn or “leathery” as well as damaging connective tissue and collagen which results in a loss of elasticity. The damage can manifest in the face as sagging skin, under eye bags and wrinkles.
Another significant factor in wrinkle development is smoking. Apart from the obvious visible effects that appear around the mouth as “smokers lines,” the chemicals in cigarettes have been known to interfere with the production of collagen, thus increasing the potential to develop wrinkles.
