The most widespread skin condition in the world, acne affects a large number of people in cases ranging from mild to severe. The personal testimonies of sufferers known to us from our experience, including stories of emotionally debilitating issues such as low self-esteem and even depression, make our fight against acne constant and relentless.
Acne manifestations:
This skin condition is primarily caused by a hormonal imbalance which often occurs in the early onset of puberty and the rest of the teenage years. The condition manifests when oil glands become infected or blocked, forming red and sometimes painful bumps on the skin surface. Acne can be non-inflammatory (blackheads, whiteheads) and inflammatory (papules, pustules, nodules, cysts).
Cystic acne can be the most painful and often produces acne scarring. It is important not to pop acne in order to avoid the scarring and even worse breakouts. Unfortunately, they can also appear spontaneously regardless of prevention and proper handling.
Who suffers from acne?
A universally experienced skin condition, acne is most commonly found in young adults and adolescents ranging from ages 11 to 30. Although it affects both men and women of any race, men tend to suffer more severely because of the higher levels of testosterone produced during adolescence. Many adults continue to struggle with moderate acne problems throughout their life. Thankfully, this condition is treatable with a variety of methods and results can be maintained with a proper skin care regimen.
